How does morning extra magic hours at magic kingdom work now that the welcome show is inside the park? I read that main street now opens at 8 am for everyone, do resort guests get in any earlier on those days or is getting a castle picture not possible now

Good Morning, Randi! Or, it will be a good morning as soon as you step foot into Magic Kingdom! The new welcome show is a sight to behold, so I’ll give you some tips for getting in there early!

Yes, you are correct about entrance hours. If Magic Kingdom officially opens at 9, guests will be able to enter as soon as 8am, having access to all of Main Street, U.S.A. You can see more of what I recommend to do on those early mornings here, in another answer to a guest!

If you are looking for the most empty of all mornings, try a morning when Magic Kingdom has Extra Magic Hours in the morning, specifically 8-9am.  This means that Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Guests will be able to begin riding rides as early as 8am, and enter the park as early as 7am, as I’m told by Cast Members. That means even fewer people to crowd your castle shot. Disney PhotoPass Photographers are poised and ready during those mornings, so be sure to request a photo as soon as you can. Before your Starbucks coffee, even!

Have a magic morning on your vacation! ~Lindsey P.
