Hi Caroline,
Welcome back to planDisney! Thank you for continuing to trust us with your Disney plans.
I’m so glad you're considering a visit to the
Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. The hotel offers so many
activities for its guests; I actually didn’t know about the hotel tour myself! The tour explores how the Arts and Crafts Movement influenced the architecture of the Grand Californian. The 45-minute experience provides participants with a closer look at the handcrafted artifacts located in the lobby and dining areas. Sounds amazing!
I was able to get in touch with a Cast Member at the hotel, and they let me know that the Art of Craft Tour starts at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Sign-ups for the week open on Sunday, so if you’re able, call the hotel and reserve your spot early. However, since you live outside the country, you can also visit the Concierge Desk upon arrival and try to sign up the day you check in. Fingers crossed this aligns with your vacation plans!
While you're at the Grand Californian, be sure to spend time in the main lobby. Since you’re visiting during the
holiday season, the hotel lobby is sure to be especially festive! There’s typically a seasonal display, and at select times, a live pianist playing holiday tunes. Grab a sweet treat from the snack cart in the lobby, find a cozy spot by the fireplace, and soak in all the warm holiday vibes.
I hope this information is helpful, Caroline! If you have any other questions or need more planning tips, feel free to write back to me or one of my fellow planDisney panelists. We’d be happy to sprinkle a little holiday magic onto your planning.
Good luck!
– Melinda
