Hi Caroline,
Welcome back to planDisney! It’s always great to see Guests return time and time again to help fine-tune their
Walt Disney World vacation plans. I’m honored to pick up where my talented panelist friends
Melissa H.,
Susan C., and
Jennifer S. may have left off. They certainly set the bar high, and I’ll do my best to continue providing the kind of Disney expertise you’ve come to expect.
It sounds like you have a fun mix of work and family time coming up this December. What a great way to wrap up the year! I’m glad to hear you’re carving out time for a visit to one of Disney’s water parks, which is always a refreshing way to recharge during a busy trip.
You may have already seen the recent announcement on the
Disney Parks Blog, but if not, here’s the big news: for the first time (in forever) since 2019, all four theme parks and both water parks are operating at the same time. It’s been a while since that happened, and the blog post mentions that both water parks will remain open through at least September 7, 2025. That small detail suggests we may be heading toward a return to the alternating operational schedule that’s been in place in recent years. Historically, when one water park closes for seasonal maintenance, it’s Typhoon Lagoon that goes offline in the fall, while
Blizzard Beach takes over during the cooler months.
But since we’re in relatively uncharted waters here, we won’t know for sure which water park will be open during your December visit until Disney releases an update. My best advice is to keep checking the Disney Parks Blog for official news as we get closer to the fall, and of course, swing back to planDisney once more details are announced, we’ll be ready to help you plan accordingly.
In the meantime, I recommend getting familiar with both parks so you’re ready either way. If Blizzard Beach is open, make time for some
mini donuts and soak in the alpine-themed views at
Melt-Away Bay. If it’s Typhoon Lagoon, you’ll love relaxing at the Surf Pool or sipping on a frozen beverage from
Leaning Palms or
Let’s Go Slurpin’ near the beach area. No matter which park ends up being open, your family will have plenty to enjoy.
I hope this helps, Caroline. Please don’t hesitate to come back and
visit us again here at planDisney. Whether it’s for this upcoming trip or one you’re just starting to dream about down the road. We’re always happy to help you make the most of your Walt Disney World vacations.
Take care,
Brent
