6 month old. What do we do about sleeping at the hotel? Hate having a play pin that everyone uses. Any ideas? He sleeps in home in a rock and play portable bassinet. Staying at the polynesian.

    Hi, Kimberly!

Although my kids are now teenagers (and will sleep anytime, anywhere, in any conditions!) I do remember dealing with this when they were babies.  Although my kids did not sleep in pack and plays at home, they slept no problem in them when in Walt Disney World.  I think they got so tired from all the activity and fresh air being outside all day, they were just happy to lay down.

I would always bring a pack and play crib sheet from home. I would put this over the existing sheet provided by the resort (which was always clean and fresh).  This way, I felt better that there was an extra layer from the padded bottom, plus the smell was familiar.  I also brought their favorite pj's, blanket, and anything else they normally slept with.  Also keeping them on their regular bedtime was a HUGE help (not always fun for the parents, but the baby's sleep comes first!)

If you are really set on the bassinet, perhaps you can search some Orlando rental centers for baby items and they could deliver one to you. You would have to see what they offer and if it fit into your budget.

You may also want to call Housekeeping when you arrive for some extra flat bed sheets. I used these on the floor so my baby could crawl around, or even put one on the bed for when I was dressing them after a bath or changing their clothes.

As a mom, you will learn all kinds of tricks to make it work. Then once you get it figured out, they turn into teenagers, then you really have to learn all new stuff real quick!  Enjoy this magical time with your little one.

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
