Hiya Richard!
Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney with your MagicBand question. I love chatting about MagicBands because they really do make a Disney World vacation feel extra seamless. It is like wearing a little piece of the magic right on your wrist.
MagicBands can be used to enter the parks with valid admission, unlock your
Disney Resort hotel room, tap into
Lightning Lane entrances, and even interact with certain attractions and shows. I still smile when they light up during moments like
Journey Into Imagination with Figment. It is those little touches that make Disney feel so special.
Now let’s jump right into your question. You will be happy to know that your 20-month-old does not need a MagicBand. In fact, no one is required to have one. Guests can use a Key to the World Card or even the Disney MagicMobile service on a smartphone to enter the parks and access Lightning Lanes. MagicBands offer a more hands-free, convenient option, which is why my family enjoys using them.
Since children under the age of 3 do not require
theme park admission, your little one will not need a ticket or a MagicBand to enter the parks or Lightning Lanes. When my youngest was that age, she loved seeing all of us tap in with our MagicBands. We actually let her wear an older one just for fun so she could feel included, even though it was not linked to anything. It made her feel like such a big kid.
And Richard, if your visit happens to line up with the
EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival, you are in for a treat. The park is filled with stunning character topiaries, vibrant flowers, and some of the freshest and most delicious food booths. My family’s favorite stop is Butterfly Landing. We can easily spend so much time just watching the butterflies flutter all around us. It is such a peaceful and beautiful experience.
I hope this helps answer your questions and makes planning a little easier. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to stop by again.
See you real soon,
Christina
