Is the monorail the primary wAy to enter the park after checking in?

Hey there, Ronald! Thank you so much for bringing your question to planDisney. We love helping guests plan their magical Disneyland Resort vacations.

This is a great question, and one I am happy to answer. I absolutely love riding the Disneyland Monorail to Disneyland Park. There is something extra special about gliding above the parks and enjoying that bird’s-eye view as you head toward the magic.

Ronald, the Monorail is not the primary way to enter the parks. While it is a convenient and fun option into Disneyland Park, the main entrance is at the main gates at the Esplanade between the two theme parks. The Monorail departs from Downtown Disney District and concludes its journey at the Tomorrowland station. With a valid theme park ticket and a park reservation for Disneyland Park, you can absolutely take advantage of the Monorail as an entry option. However, the Monorail does not stop at Disney California Adventure Park, so it would not be available to you if your reservation is for that park. If this is your first visit, I highly recommend entering through the main gates. There is truly nothing like walking under the Disneyland Railroad bridge and stepping onto Main Street, U.S.A., with Sleeping Beauty Castle welcoming you at the end of the street.

As a fun bonus, here are a few Monorail facts to impress your travel party. The Disneyland Monorail was the first transportation system of its kind in the United States. Today’s Mark VII trains blend sleek retro-futuristic design inspired by the original 1959 Monorail with modern technology. The system currently operates Red, Blue, and Orange trains and runs on a 600-volt DC power source, meaning it produces no direct exhaust or pollutants.

I hope you take time to enjoy the approximately 2.5-mile, 13-minute round-trip Monorail ride, and that this helps clarify your park entry options. Have a truly magical visit, Ronald, and please stop back by planDisney if you have any more questions as you plan.

    Cheers!
