Hi Jennie!
Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney! Every great adventure begins with a question and a sprinkle of pixie dust! You came to the right place with your questions, so let me address each one for you:
MonorailThe
Disneyland Monorail is currently open at the Disneyland Resort. When I check the Daily schedule, I see no planned closure through August. However, please keep in mind that there can be temporary or even full closures throughout the day. I always recommend checking the daily schedule as your visit approaches and when you are in the parks. The calendar usually displays dates up to six weeks in advance and can be accessed
online or through the
Disneyland app.
When using the app:
1) Tap the three bars on the bottom right,
2) Scroll down to “Park Hours & Info,”
3) Then scroll further to “Closed for Refurbishment” for the latest updates.
When using the website:
1) Switch to “Day View,”
2) Select your desired date,
3) Scroll to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, then find the “Closed for Refurbishment” section.
Lightning LaneDisneyland has officially retired the term “Genie+” and replaced it with
Lightning Lane. This paid service allows Guests to reserve return times for select attractions at both
Disneyland Park and
Disney California Adventure Park.
You can purchase Lightning Lane for your entire party when you buy your tickets. If you’ve already purchased your tickets, you’ll have the option to buy a Lightning Lane Multi Pass once you scan into the park on your first day, all through the Disneyland app.
Not everyone in your party needs to purchase the Lightning Lane Multi Pass. For example, little ones who don’t meet the height requirements for eligible rides or expectant Guests who may not be able to ride may not need it. Just remember that each Guest who wishes to make a Lightning Lane reservation or use the Lightning Lane entrance must have purchased the Multi Pass.
Disney Genie ServiceThe Disney Genie section of the app is a wonderful (and free!) planning tool. It shows your current plans (such as dining reservations, booked experiences, and Lightning Lane reservations) all in one place. It can also offer suggestions for what to do next, based on what's currently happening in the parks. It's like having your own personal...Genie!
I hope this helps, Jennie! I know there’s a lot to take in, but I’m here for any follow-up questions you may have. If anything else comes to mind, don’t hesitate to write back. My fellow panelists and I are always happy to sprinkle a little extra magic on your Disneyland vacation planning.
Happy planning!
