Hi there, Karrie, and welcome to planDisney!
Riding the Disney Monorail is one of those experiences that you will never forget. It’s a part of what made me fall in love with the Disney Parks as a child. It is my pleasure to show you how to hop on this iconic mode of transportation.
There are two
Disney Monorail options from Magic Kingdom Park. Once your theme park visit is complete, or you just want a midday break, you’ll want to go down Main Street, U.S.A., pass under the
Walt Disney World Railroad train station, and exit through the Mickey-shaped entry points. From there, you’ll see an “Express Monorail” sign and a “Resort Monorail” sign. Just follow the ramps up to your preferred boarding area.
The Express Monorail from Magic Kingdom Park will take you to the Transportation and Ticket Center (for the parking lot or a transfer to EPCOT’s Monorail). The Resort Monorail will take you around the Seven Seas Lagoon to each Disney Resorts Collection hotel (Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa). This one also makes a stop at the Transportation and Ticket Center.
AN EXTRA GEM: No matter where you’re going around the Walt Disney World Resort, and no matter how you get there (Disney bus,
Disney Skyliner, etc.) always allow for about an hour of travel time. It’s never fun to miss a Lightning Lane return time window or an advanced dining reservation. And if that does happen, Hakuna Matata! The magic will always find you to perk you back up!
Karrie, I hope that this helps you with your vacation planning. I’m so excited for you to tap into the magic soon. If you have any other questions before, during, or even after your vacation,
revisit us here at planDisney. Any of the panelists will be more than happy to help.
Magic always,
LeAndra
