Hey There, Hi There, Ho There, Heather!
Welcome to planDisney! We are DELIGHTED you stopped by and are honored to help you plan your upcoming trip to
Disney World! Before you know it, you will be trading everyday errands for churros, parades, and pure wonder. Picture surprise Disney character hellos, happy screams on coasters, and fireworks that make time stand still. We are so excited for you, and we can't wait to help you get ready for your unforgettable adventure.
So, are you ready for some MAGICAL news? I am happy to share with you that you CAN ride t
he monorail from
Grand Floridian to
The Contemporary, and it’s a wonderfully “storybook” way to travel. Picture this...You float up to the station at the Grand Floridian, glide past the spires of
Magic Kingdom, and then swoosh right into the Contemporary through the A-frame—like your own little sky-chariot between castles and dreams. The monorail loop serves Magic Kingdom, the Contemporary, the Grand Floridian, and the
Polynesian in a continuous circuit, so from the Grand Floridian, you’ll stop at Magic Kingdom next and then arrive at the Contemporary without any transfers.
As you plan for the day, the monorail typically starts about an hour before
Early Theme Park Entry for the day. In the evenings, resort transportation (including the monorail) generally runs up to an hour after the parks close, giving you a comfortable window to float home after fireworks. Please note that exact hours may vary with the seasons, special events, and maintenance, so it’s best to check the day-of times in the
My Disney Experience app or ask your resort's front desk.
The monorail is classic Disney “transportainment,” and swooping into the Contemporary never stops feeling like a bit of pixie dust. If you have a breakfast reservation, such as
Chef Mickey's, give yourself a little buffer so you can enjoy the ride, take a castle peek, and still arrive right on time.
If you have other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We are here to help in any way!
Have a MAGICAL day!
Wes
