Is the monorail at Disneyland just a ride or does it make stops at different locations? If it does, please tell me the locations. How long would it take to walk from Disneyland to the Disneyland hotel? Thanks.

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Susanne.

The Monorail at Disneyland Resort doesn’t serve the same function as the Monorail system at Walt Disney World Resort. Parks and Resort hotels are farther apart at Walt Disney World Resort, making it important for Guests to utilize the Monorail as transportation.

The Monorail takes Guests around Disneyland Resort, making stops at Downtown Disney District and Tomorrowland inside Disneyland Park. It’s a fun way to see the Disneyland Resort. When boarding the Monorail at the Downtown Disney District station, Guests must present valid theme park admission because the Monorail stops at Tomorrowland.

Disneyland Hotel is located to the West of Downtown Disney District. It’s a nice walk to the entrance of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.  I would estimate about 15 minutes to walk from Disneyland Hotel to Disneyland Park entrance. You’ll have to pass through bag check and security, so it’ll take a bit longer if the parks are more crowded. I enjoy stopping by Starbucks to pick up coffee and pastry or a Jamba Juice smoothie before heading into the parks, and I allocate more time for that.

I hope this information is helpful for you, Susanne. As always, please visit us on the Panel if you have more questions. We’re here to help you plan a magical trip to the Happiest Place on Earth!

I am also surrounded by fellow Disney-loving nurse friends whom I enjoy quick adults-only Disneyland Resort escapes with. Whether you are planning your once-in-a-lifetime family trip or a short adults-only getaway to the Happiest Place on Earth, I am here to help!
