we are going to take the monorail to dinner at the contemporary hotel. How long does it take to get from the ticket and transportation center to the contemporary hotel?

Hiya, Kelly! Thanks for stopping by planDisney!

I’m happy to help with your magnificent monorail question. This highway in the sky is one of the most iconic parts of Walt Disney World Resort, and such a unique way to travel to the Magic Kingdom, hotels around the Seven Seas Lagoon, or over to EPCOT.

Your best resource for directions and travel times at Walt Disney World Resort is the My Disney Experience mobile app. It provides step-by-step directions to most locations around the resort, as well as travel times for each available transportation option. For your journey, I searched “Disney’s Contemporary Resort” and tapped “Get Directions,” and then selected “Resort Monorail - Transportation and Ticket Center” as my starting point. The app shows that it is currently a 15-minute journey via monorail to get from the Transportation and Ticket Center to the Contemporary Resort. It’s important to remember that those travel times may change based on crowd levels, the time of day, and monorail availability.

An alternate route suggested by the app is to take the ferry across the lagoon to the Magic Kingdom and then walk to the Contemporary Resort. This option takes 25 minutes (at the time I’m writing this), so it’s not the quickest route, but it’s always good to know your options.

Kelly, I hope you have a delightful dinner at the Contemporary Resort and smooth travels getting there. Come right back to planDisney if you have any other vacation planning questions. We’re always happy to lend a hand!

Magical travels! And remember: “Please stand clear of the doors. Por favor manténgase alejado de las puertas.”
