Hi Mona, We are DVC members and AP holders. Thinking of doing the free dining package this fall. Don't need the park pass portion. Can we have the ticket portion "saved" and apply it to our AP renewal 1-1-2014 when our current APs expire?

    Hi Kathy,

Disney Vacation Club Members are not eligible for free dining on vacations booked using Disney Vacation Club Points. In order to be eligible for free dining, you need to book a Magic Your Way Package. As a Disney Vacation Club Member using Vacation Club Points for your reservation you are not booking a vacation package, and therefore free dining plans are not available. You can; however, add a dining plan to your Disney Vacation Club stay for a cost. The easiest way to do this is to call 1-800-800-9800 and speak with a cast member at Disney Vacation Club Member Services.

If you are not using your Disney Vacation Club points for this stay - that is, if you are booking a Magic Your Way Vacation Package using traditional payment methods such as cash or credit card through Walt Disney World, then you are eligible for free dining. You would get theme park tickets as a part of your package. You can apply the value of those passes to your next annual pass purchase. Just be careful of a couple of things. Do not use the park passes at all, or they will expire 14 days after first use. Then when you come back in a year they won't have any value left. Also, put those tickets in an extremely safe place when you get home from your vacation so that you don't lose them! You will need to visit a Guest Relations site at Walt Disney World to handle this transaction - it cannot be done by phone or through the mail. The unofficial website mousesavers.com has some good information on this process. Simply visit the site, search for "tickets," and click on "Advice, tips, and tricks for Walt Disney World Tickets and Passes." There is also good information on this at the unofficial site AllEars at allears.net/pl/ticket.htm. On each of these sites you will need to scroll down a bit to find the information you are looking for.

I hope that this information is helpful for you, Kathy. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
