Hi Mona Leigh, We are DVC members and I have points getting ready to expire and I understand that I have until to July to use them. How do I use those points that are not banked because they are getting ready to expire?

    Hi Raquel,

I'm so glad that you're thinking ahead about how to not lose your points.  Of course, what I most want to tell you to do is to use those points and take a quick trip to Walt Disney World!  But if that isn't a possibility, there is an option for you so that you do not lose the points.

You can deposit the points into RCI, the timeshare vacation exchange network.  You can think of this as kind of a deposit on a future vacation which you would take through RCI at one of their resorts.  In order to do this, contact Disney Vacation Club Member Services at 1-800-800-9800 and follow the prompts to get to an RCI advisor, who can help you with this transaction.

The minimum number of points to do this is 106; however, if you do not have 106 points, you may be able to borrow them from your next use year.  You would have to check your individual membership details with the advisor to confirm if that is a possibility.  There is no fee to deposit points into RCI; however, when you request or confirm a reservation with RCI, there will be a $95 fee, and possibly other fees depending on the resort that you chose.  You can deposit your points into RCI 45 days or more before your points expire, which for you will be around June 16. I would probably do it a little earlier than that, though, so that you're not cutting it too close!  On the day that you do deposit the points into RCI, they will be good for future travel for up to two years - so maybe a reason to wait a little while until you do!

I hope that this information gives you a good option, Raquel.  Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
