Hi Mona Leigh! Could you please suggest some "starter" rides in each park for kids aged 6 and 9 and a husband who doesn't like rollercoasters? Eventually I hope to work up to the bigger rides with the kids, but I don't want to overwhelm them at f

    Hi Kara,

This is a great idea. Starting with attractions that the whole family can enjoy together and then working up to more intense attractions should help to ensure that everyone has a good time.

At Magic Kingdom Park, there are many attractions that should fit the bill. The whole family would probably enjoy Pirates of the Caribbean, which is gentle and has one slight drop. Also consider the Haunted Mansion. The "doom buggies" in which you ride on Haunted Mansion do turn around and go down a hill - but slowly! Also your whole family may enjoy Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, a continually moving ride which moves slowly. It is interactive and you get to help Buzz Lightyear on a mission.

At Epcot, consider riding Spaceship Earth, which again goes on a track and is slow-moving. The vehicles on this ride also turn backward to go down a hill, but slowly. Living with the Land is a slow-moving boat ride through greenhouses which your family may enjoy together. Your family also may enjoy the Maelstrom attraction in the Norway pavilion. This boat ride does go backward, but not too intensely.

At Disney's Hollywood Studios, you can all ride The Great Movie Ride together, which will take you through many classic movie moments at a slow pace. You would also probably all enjoy Toy Story Midway Mania, on which you ride through and get to play midway-type games. The ride goes quickly around corners, but is mild overall.

Finally, at Disney's Animal Kingdom, ride Kilimanjaro Safaris. The open-air safari vehicle speeds up and is bumpy sometimes, but is not overwhelming. You also may consider Kali River Rapids which is a raft ride that is not too intense. But be forewarned - you may get quite wet!

I hope this gives you some ideas for attractions that your whole family can enjoy together, Kara. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
