Mona Leigh, love your advice! We are staying at Saratoga springs with our son who has autism. We won't be accessing the parks, but want to make the best the Disney community. Thoughts on a fun morning expedition for us minimizing hot walks?

    Hi Katherine,

Thank you so much for your kind words! We here at planDisney love helping guests to plan magical vacations. A Disney day that does not include the theme parks can be a lot of fun. The resorts and other areas offer so much to do! Let me offer you a few options for your morning fun.

Staying at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will afford you many options. There are many recreation options at this resort, including some great pools if you are up for a morning dip in the pool. You can also check out the Community Hall. Community Halls at Walt Disney World resorts offer activities such as ping pong, coloring, games, movies, crafts, and much more. There are always many activities set out. Most of the activities are free, but some do come with a small fee. These are great, air-conditioned spaces to relax. My daughter absolutely loves visiting Community Hall when we are at a resort that has one!

Another option for you would be to simply ride the boats that provide transportation between the resorts hotels along the Sassagoula River and Disney Springs. The boat ride itself is calm, relaxing, and cool. You can go to Disney Springs or simply ride the boats around - either one is a great option.

I know that you are looking to minimize hot walks. Depending on the weather when you are at Walt Disney World, perhaps the morning would not be too hot. In that case, you could go explore at Disney Springs a little bit. If you take the boat over to Disney Springs, you can head into any of the air conditioned stores. The restaurant that is the closest for a sit down meal that would minimize walking would be the Rainforest Cafe. There is a lot to see at this restaurant, so it could be an option for an early lunch.

I hope these thoughts give you some ideas on how to spend your magical morning, Katherine. Please do feel free to write back if you have any further questions!
