Hi Mona Leigh! My husband and I are hoping to book a four night cruise on the Wish. We can’t wait to explore the ship! We aren’t sure what type of room to book. Do you have any tips for selecting a room in terms of value, location, and overall experience?

    Hi Rebecca,

Thank you so much for visiting planDisney with your question! The Disney Wish is a lovely ship. My family was lucky enough to sail on the Disney Wish recently, and we found this newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet to be filled with beautiful details. From the elegance and class of dining in 1923, to cozy spaces for a cocktail, snack, and live music such as The Bayou, this ship is filled with amazing spaces in which to relax, unwind, and generally have a good time!

In terms of how to choose your stateroom on the Disney Wish, that is definitely a personal preference. Let me offer you some thoughts to guide you in this decision. To begin, there are four categories of staterooms on the Disney Wish: Inside, Oceanview, Verandah, and Concierge. These tend to rise in price as you move through the four categories in the order I listed. Inside staterooms are on the interior of the ship. Oceanview staterooms offer a porthole to the outside, whereas verandah staterooms offer a private verandah. Concierge staterooms are the most luxurious, and come with access to concierge services and lounge.

My family finds that we do not spend a lot of time in our stateroom during a cruise. That said, we do love having a private verandah on which to drink coffee in the morning or watch the ocean for a while. Therefore, we tend to book a verandah room. We have occasionally splurged for a concierge stateroom, which is amazing and truly a special experience.

In terms of location, again, this is a personal preference. My family is very specific: we like to be on a higher floor toward the front of the ship. Being on a higher floor on the Disney Wish gives us quick access to the pools and activities such as the AquaMouse, as well as Marceline Market and other dining options. We enjoy being toward the front of the ship, preferably close to the elevators and stairs for quick access to our stateroom. Some guests do prefer to be further away from elevators and stairs, or on a lower floor to be closer to the rotational dining rooms and activities on the lower decks of the ship.

You can explore a very detailed deck plan of the Disney Wish online and navigate the floors and areas of the ship to determine where you think might be a good location for your traveling party. When you book a sailing, you will be able to choose the specific stateroom number that you are booking. I suggest that you book early as stateroom selection will get more limited as your sail date approaches!

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Rebecca. Please feel free to sail on back with any further questions you may have while planning your magical sailing.
