Hello Moms, We are planning a trip this coming October for our daughter (7) and son (4). Both of our children have special needs, both have Down syndrome and my son is dual dx with Autism. Are there any services available for children with special needs?

    Hi Sarah ~

As the Mom of a special needs child, I know that planning ahead can make things run more smoothly once we reach the parks. When you arrive at the first theme park during your visit, go to Guest Relations and speak with a Cast Member regarding the specific needs of your children. After speaking with a Cast Member (CM), they may issue your children a Disability Access Service Card (DAS). The DAS is designed to assist Guests who are unable to wait in a standard queue for medical reasons including those that are not apparent.

If the DAS will be the best option for your children, the CM will take their photos for the DAS, go over the terms and conditions, and have you sign for the DAS. A DAS is not an actual physical card and will be linked to your children's MagicBands. The CM will need to link everyone's MagicBands in your party as well so that you can all enter an attraction with your children.

Once you obtain a DAS, you can go to an attraction to get a return time to come back and enter the Disney FastPass+ service queue. The DAS return time will show up in your My Disney Experience so be sure to download the My Disney Experience mobile app prior to your trip. You can only obtain one DAS return time at a time but you can get another DAS return time as soon as your children have enjoyed the attraction. The DAS can be used in addition to Disney FastPass+ service selections.

I am limited in space but please feel free to visit with all of your questions. I'm hEAR for you! Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
