Hello Moms, my daughter loves Rey and she plans to wear her costume during our next visit at Hollywood Studios. She would like to bring her Rey staff also. I know we can bring our lightsabers, but how about the long Rey staff? Thank you!

Hello Noemi! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

My kids are just getting into Star Wars and I couldn't be more thrilled! With the new Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge set to open in 2019, they will be the perfect age for daddy to be able to drag them through the new land without too much effort.

As far as bringing Rey's Quarterstaff into the Theme Parks, it will be up to the discretion of the Security Officer at Security Clearance whether or not the Quarterstaff is either a "Weapon of any kind or object that appear to be weapons" as dictated by the Restricted Personal Items List. Even with Light Sabers, Security Personnel can make the decision that it cannot be brought into the Theme Parks.

If you daughter is in full costume with the Quarterstaff attached to a belt or on her back, then it is possible that Security Personnel will consider it a part of the costume and allow it. However, depending on the size of the Quarterstaff it may be denied as being too akin to a weapon.

I recommend that you keep the quarterstaff at home and stop by Tatooine Traders to have Rey's Light Saber constructed. As much as Rey likes her Quarterstaff, I'm pretty confident she will be trading up for her own Light Saber in the next Star Wars film.

May the Force Be With You!
