Hello Moms! I'm planning my family's first Disney World vacation for March 17-23, 2013. It's 2 adults and 2 children (11 & 6). What's the best way to stay? Package? Ala Carte? Motel? We are on a budget, but really want to go. Thanks!

Hi Rebecca! It will be an exciting time to plan for your big trip to Walt Disney World! Make sure you let the kids help with the planning so they can feel like they are part of it.

Many guests enjoy the package deals and especially those that include dining as they have their vacation paid for before they arrive. There are three dining plan options but I generally suggest the regular dining package over the quick service or the deluxe. This gives you a good basis of food allotments without feeling like you are eating all day. Plus it gives you options to dine at a sit down restaurant which is a nice change from counter service all the time.

I usually enjoy simply booking everything separately but it is because it works best for my family. If you choose to do this be careful with the budgeting so you are not over spending once you arrive. I suggest you give the each child a Disney gift card or Disney dollars and let them know that is their spending money for the trip to spend as they wish. This gives them responsibility and lets you not have to open your wallet at every shop which is very tempting!

Budget wise you will find the Value resorts to be your best room for the price. If you want a Family suite look at the All Star Music over the Art of Animation as they will be less expensive. This is because the Art of Animation is the newest Disney resort and very sought after right now by the guests. The All Star Music suites are very nice and give you two bathrooms and a separate bedroom in case you want the kids to be sleeping you still watching tv.  If you prefer to save even more money on your room my preference is the Pop Century resort for regular rooms. You can put together a package and check prices by going to www.disneyworld.com. Let me know what I can do to help you with your planning in the next few months!
