Hi Mom's, I am going to be in Disney World in January (2016) for a couple of weeks and I want to do something unique and special with my 17 year old daughter. Do you have any recommendations?

    Leah:

On our most recent trip, we took our two oldest children who are 17- and 19-years-old. Like you, I wanted a more mature vacation. Here are a few experiences we enjoyed that I couldn't recommend more highly:

    • Spa Treatment: We enjoyed the Magnolia Spa at Shades of Green for a massage and facial because of a special. It wasn't as luxurious as the spa at Saratoga Springs which I highly recommend. My daughter has told me though, that the family that "spas" together stays together...
    • Miniature Golf: I'd never played the Fantasia mini golf course near the Swan & Dolphin hotels, and we found it to be a blast. Choose the "fun" course with the fanciful holes.
    • Special Dinner: We dined at Narcoossee's for two hours and took in the excitement of the Wishes fireworks from Magic Kingdom along with the Electrical Water Pageant. Other locations that lend themselves to a special evening include California Grill for a sunset dinner and view of Disney World from atop the Contemporary resort along with Sanaa for its window seat view of Animal Kingdom Lodge's savanna and its animals.
    • Fireworks Cruise: I don't know which one was more fun, the fireworks cruise around Seven Seas Lagoon to catch the Magic Kingdom fireworks or the cruise down the canal that runs from Crescent Lake by Beach Club resort down to Disney's Hollywood Studios with the finale of Illuminations at Epcot. Truly memorable.
    • Sea Raycers: Although it is on my bucket list, I can tell you that renting a pair of sea "mice" from one of the marinas is a great value and adventure that many folks don't experience.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
