I am the mom of a 3 year old with special needs and a 9 year old. We are planning a 7 day trip in January but cant decide between Caribbean Beach Resort and Pop Century. Also, does staying on site instead of off site enhance the experience that much?

    Hi Amelia,

In my experience, Disney is a very "user-friendly" destination for families with children who have special needs.  I'm happy to report that there are accessible rooms at all of the Disney resorts (in each price category), so if you require such a room, you'll be able to request one at both Pop Century and Caribbean Beach.  If I had to pick, I'd probably opt for Caribbean beach, because my boys are huge pirate fans, and the theming of the resort and main pool area is a pirate lover's dream!  In addition, Caribbean Beach (a moderate resort) has both a counter service and table service restaurant, while Pop Century (a value resort) has just a counter service location.  My family enjoy's the convenience of being able to have an on-site table service spot at our resort for nights when we want to sit down to dinner right at our hotel.   Pop Century is a wonderful value property, with great theming and amenities.  I'm guessing your family will be happy regardless of which resort you chose.

As for choosing to stay on or off-site, I am a big fan of staying on property.  In my experience, the perks of staying at a Disney property greatly enhance our trips.  Extra Magic Hours, Disney's Magical Express and Disney transportation to and from the parks are just a few reasons we almost always stay on-site.  If you opt for a resort off-property, I would recommend renting a car, which generally makes getting to and from the parks much easier than by relying upon an off-site resort's shuttle service.

    Have a wonderful trip!
