Hi Daniel! Welcome to planDisney!
It’s great to hear that your mom plans to join your trip. Disney's Port Orleans Resort is a beautiful choice, offering a charming
Riverside or
French Quarter atmosphere. You’ll love the dining options, from the quick bites at
Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory to the sit-down meals at
Boatwright’s Dining Hall. Don’t forget to indulge in those famous beignets at the French Quarter; they’re a must! The resorts also feature beautiful pools and even a scenic boat ride to
Disney Springs, where you can explore more dining and shopping.
To answer your question, I would say that it depends...If you booked a Disney vacation package (accommodations and Theme Park Tickets), adding your mom to your reservation would result in her receiving the exact park tickets you purchased. So, you would be paying for tickets she doesn’t need. If you booked your Disney Resort and park tickets separately, you should be able to add your mom to your reservation after adding her to your Family & Friends list.
To do so, log into your My Disney Experience account, hover over the MyDisneyExperience, and select “My Family & Friends.” You will be able to “Add a Guest” by entering her information (name and phone number or email), selecting her profile from the list of “Guests You May Know,” or by “Adding a new Guest who doesn’t have a MyDisney account.” Once she’s been added, you can update your reservation by selecting “My Plans,” scrolling to your reservation, and selecting “Change Reservation.” Sometimes, though, the “Change Reservation” option isn’t available, and if that’s the case, Hakuna Matata, you can call (407)939-1936 for assistance. Once added to your reservation, she will receive all the same
benefits of staying in a Disney Resorts Collection hotel as any other Guest, including
Early Theme Park Entry!
Daniel, I’d hate to leave you without some dining recommendations to create some core memories! My favorite spot at Disney World is
Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village because of the delicious Indian-style Bread Service and the view of the savanna. I’d also recommend
California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, especially if you can secure a reservation during Happily Ever After. Stepping out on the balcony to take in the fireworks show and music would be something you and your mom remember forever! If you can’t secure a reservation there, consider enjoying the show from the beaches of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Better yet, do so with the iconic DOLE Whip from
Pineapple Lanai.
If you have any additional questions or would like more recommendations,
let me know!
Cheers,
Brent
