Hi Allison,
Thanks for stopping by planDisney! My dad is also turning 70 this year, too! I think it’s a wonderful idea to celebrate this milestone at the Happiest Place on Earth!
If you are looking for help with planning your vacation, you can start with assistance from the Walt Disney Travel Company. This is a free service for potential guests of the parks. Cast Members at the Walt Disney Travel Company help guests with hotel reservations and park tickets. When you book a vacation through them, you also get some
magical extras, including 10% off at participating dining and merchandise locations throughout Downtown Disney, and an exclusive Walt Disney Travel Company collectible pin and lanyard. You have the option of hotel packages at the three
Disneyland Resort Hotels or at one of the
Good Neighbor hotels as well. You can call (714) 520-5060 to book your
vacation package today. Your vacation will be Bibbidi Bobbidi Booked in no time!
One of my fellow panelists also recommends searching for an "Authorized Disney Vacation Planner." These travel agencies can assist with a wide variety of services, like flights, hotels, tickets, and booking experiences. Explore the different planners to see if they meet the needs of you and your family.
In regards to the 70th Anniversary of Disneyland, there’s so much coming to the park! Be sure to check out the Disney Parks Blog for the
70th Anniversary Guide and follow
@Disneyland on Instagram to hear the latest news. While the parades and nighttime entertainment are a must-see, there will also be some bits of Disney history showcased during the anniversary.
The
Main Street Cinema will feature a short story about the impact of Disney Legends
Robert and
Richard Sherman, commonly known as the Sherman Brothers. Then, starting on July 17 (the date of Disneyland’s opening day), “It’s a Small World” will feature a new verse that was written by Richard M. Sherman.
Starting July 17, you can also visit the
Opera House on Main Street, U.S.A., where you’ll find a new
gallery experience featuring
Walt Disney’s dream of Disneyland and its transformation over the years. This will be a must-do for any fan of Disney history. There will be artifacts from the earlier days of the park and from Walt’s life. The end of the exhibit will feature a new short film called “Walt Disney – A Magical Life.” This film will explore the incredible story of Walt Disney’s life. I hope it will spark wonderful memories for your mom.
I hope this information was helpful, Allison. I have more advice on birthday celebrations in the park if you need tips! If you have any other questions, need additional help, or would love more advice, please feel free to write back to me or any of my fellow panelists—we’d be happy to assist.
Happy Planning!
Melinda
