Hi mom panel, We will be visiting during the coming New Year, We are a party of 14 ages 3 5,7, 19, 30’s and 50’s… and we would like to know what would be a great thing to do on New Years Eve. We have been to Disney every winter in the past 15 years.

    Hi James!

I definitely suggest being in a park as opposed to at a resort.

The Magic Kingdom is probably the most "popular" park to be in for New Year's Eve, but because it is so popular, it is also super crazy with crowds.  In fact, the Magic Kingdom will probably close due to capacity at some time in the day.

My recommendation is to either head to Epcot or Disney's Hollywood Studios.  Epcot will have some special entertainment and there's always the shows at the various country pavilions to occupy guests as well.  I was talking to a friend who went last year and he pointed out that while the park was crowded, there was absolutely no one inside Innoventions in the afternoon when he went; keep that in mind!

Disney's Hollywood Studios is also a great choice.  While it is a much smaller park, it's no as popular as either the Magic Kingdom or Epcot and thus it won't feel as packed.  There will be a special fireworks show in the Studios in addition to its usual nighttime spectacular Fantasmic!

If you want to avoid crowds, then head over to Disney's Animal Kingdom for the day.  Because it closes early and a lot of guests don't have the Park Hopper option on their tickets, it usually isn't that crowded on special holidays.

I hope this helps!  Write back if you have any more questions!
