Hi Mom Panel. My question: Is a dining plan worth bying?

    Hello, Tara,

Great question!  We've done the Disney Dining Plan several times and through careful planning, we did save several hundred dollars and liked having paid for dining beforehand (much easier to budget).  I also really liked as the mother of teen sons, I  could let them order whatever they wanted off the menu and didn't have to be my usual frugal self.

On the other hand, I was surprised at how much food we had, especially with desserts at lunch/dinner and the addition of snacks (fyi, we saved a lot of snack credits for the last day when we loaded up with Disney goodies to take home with us).  We also felt like we didn't have as much freedom with our choices since we always had to be aware of how many dining credits restaurants were.

To help you see more specifics on the Disney Dining Plan, www.touringplans.com (click on the blog link) and search for the article The Disney Dining Plan Exposed by Stacey Lantz, which helps you to see both specific pros and cons of the plan.  Also, www.disneyfoodblog.com has great articles on making the most of your dollar on the Disney Dining Plan (search for Disney Dining Plan Deals) if you decide to do the dining plan.

Thank you for your question. Please let us know if we can help again.
