Hi, my mom just had foot surgery she can walk but tires out easily. We plan to get a wheelchair in the parks but @ AK we are doing Wild Africa Trek @ 8:00 AM, can I rent one before we go so it will be there afterwards since they are rented 1st come? Thanks

Hello Elizabeth!  Thanks for your question.  I would suggest renting a wheelchair once you've entered the park, at Garden Gate Gifts, which will be on your right-hand side after passing through the entrance.  Your mom should definitely use it to make her way to the back of the park where the Wild Africa Trek is located - it requires quite a bit of walking to get there.  This is also the only location for wheelchair rentals at Disney's Animal Kingdom, so it would require you returning to the front of the park after your Wild Africa Trek if you waited until afterwards to rent one.  I recently experienced the Wild Africa Trek and I am going to say that your mom may have some difficulty with this adventure and you may want to rethink whether or not she will be able to participate.  There is a lot of walking/hiking on unmarked trails and hills, and there is a large section of rope bridges which require stability.  Even though I have long legs, I almost had to hop from one plank to the next.  I would hate for your mom to re-injure her foot, so that is why I am cautioning you about this.

If I can answer any other questions for you, please let me know.  I wish you and your family a very magical Walt Disney World vacation!
