Hi there, Ashley! Thanks for stopping by to see us again at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Yay, Mom! It's always so much fun to share Walt Disney World with everyone you love the most. I know you must be really looking forward to your kids getting to experience it with their grandma.
I've stayed at both Disney's Pop Century Resort and Disney's Art of Animation Resort, and each has its own charm. The benefits of the family suites at Art of Animation come down to the extra space, the kitchenette and the theming of the rooms. Since you're considering two rooms at Pop Century, space won't really be an issue. The kitchenettes consist of a microwave, small refrigerator and a sink, so you can do some light meal prep in your room to help with your budget. The over-the-top theming of the rooms adds to the Disney experience, and the kids love it!
Since Pop Century is just across the bridge, you can still check out one of the most popular features of Art of Animation: the larger-than-life Disney characters that dot the courtyards of the resort. You can also grab a bite at the Landscape of Flavors food court, one of my favorite quick dining spots around. The Big Blue Pool is reserved for Art of Animation Guests, but you'll have a splash-tastic time at the Hippy-Dippy Pool at Pop Century.
The Art of Animation bus stop is located in front of the reception area at Animation Hall, which also houses the food court and gift shop. Lion King building 10 and Cars building 1 are closest to Animation Hall.
I'd say if budget is your priority, you'll have a great time at Pop Century. If you're looking for something a little different and don't mind spending the extra money, go ahead and try Art of Animation. I know it's a tough decision. Please visit us again if you have any more questions. We love to help!
