My mom &I are planning on going to WDW next year for the disney park Christmas Day parade taping & I was wanting to know...is it free to get in for the taping & the concerts? It will be our first time for the Christmas decorations & all.

    Hi AJ!

Walt Disney World at Christmas time is pure magic, the beautiful decorations and festive atmosphere are a perfect way to get into the holiday spirit!  The Walt Disney World portion of Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade taping typically occurs on the first weekend in December and is a big draw for lots of Disney fans and local residents.  In previous years, guests would need a special ticket in order to be apart of the taping which were given out in a variety of ways.  I don't have any knowledge as how or if tickets to the parade taping will be in the same manner or if any guests within the parks will be able to participate.  As with most events at Disney's Magic Kingdom, park admission will be required.

Keep in mind that the taping takes place over an entire weekend and while it is amazing seeing some very famous stars and fantastic performances, the parade can and will reset itself many times.  Main Street USA will also be very crowded as most guests will be trying to catch a glimpse of their favorite star and many areas will most likely be roped off during the taping. While it is definitely exciting to see, just keep in mind that there will also be a lot of behind the scene work going on and you probably will not get to see the parade run through in its entirety.

Since this is your first time visiting Walt Disney World for the holidays, make sure to check out the gorgeous gingerbread creations at many of Disney's Deluxe Resorts, you can even take home your own piece of gingerbread heaven!  Also, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and The Candlelight Processional are both amazing special events during this time of year that will definitely enhance your Christmastime visit.

I hope this was helpful, AJ and please visit me again if you have anymore questions while planning your next Walt Disney World vacation!

    Best Wishes!
