Hi Ashley, welcome to planDisney! There’s nothing quite like experiencing the magic of Walt Disney World with multiple generations of your family. One of my favorite trips was when my parents and in-laws joined us for part of our vacation—it was so special watching them relive the magic through our children’s eyes, just like they did when my wife and I were growing up. I’m sure your upcoming adventure will be filled with just as many unforgettable memories!
As someone who has to navigate food allergies for my son when traveling, I completely understand how important it is to plan ahead. I’m happy to share some tips to help make your mom’s dining experience as smooth as possible! A great first step is checking out the Walt Disney World website for dining options at Magic Kingdom and Typhoon Lagoon. Many locations have their menus online, so you can review ingredients and allergy-friendly options before visiting.
Another fantastic resource is the Special Dietary Requests page, which provides helpful guidance on navigating food allergies in the parks. When making advance dining reservations, note your mom’s allergies in the system. Then, when you arrive at each dining location, let the Cast Members know about her dietary needs. For guests with four or more allergies, pureed meal requirements, or medically restrictive diets, Disney’s Special Diets Team can provide additional assistance—reach out to them at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com no sooner than 14 days before your visit to request a Special Dietary Request Form.
For Magic Kingdom, here are a few quick-service locations that tend to have great allergy-friendly options:
- Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café – A solid choice with customizable rice bowls and fajitas that can accommodate various dietary needs.
- Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café – Offers allergy-friendly options, including plant-based meals.
- Casey’s Corner – A classic spot where you can inquire about dairy-free and egg-free modifications.
- Sleepy Hollow – While best known for its waffles, they may have modifications available depending on your mom’s specific needs.
At Typhoon Lagoon, I’d recommend checking out:
- Leaning Palms – Often has allergy-friendly options, including plant-based choices.
- Snack Shack – A good place for fresh fruit and light bites.
Pro tip: Bring some of your mom’s favorite snacks in case she needs a quick bite between meals. As long as they’re not in glass containers and don’t require Cast Members to heat them up, they’re good to go!
Wishing you and your family a magical (and delicious!) vacation!
