Can you modify your lighting lane selection during its arrival window time? Or do you have to modify before the arrival window time starts for the chosen lighting lane ride?

Hi there, Eun, and welcome to planDisney! I’m so glad you stopped by with this great question about using Lightning Lane passes. These little time-savers can make such a difference in your day, and I’m happy to help you navigate how to adjust them as needed throughout your day.

You’ll be glad to know that Lightning Lane selections at the Disneyland Resort are designed to be flexible. In most cases, you can modify your return time even after the arrival window has begun, as long as new times are still available. Return windows shift throughout the day based on demand, so I always recommend checking in early and often to find the time that works best for your plans.

If you don’t see a modification option for your current selection once the arrival window has begun, you still have another option: cancel the existing Lightning Lane and book a new one for the same attraction. Since you won’t be redeeming that original selection, it will become available for you to rebook as long as new times are still open. Before canceling, I always recommend checking the Tip Board in the Disneyland mobile app to make sure the attraction you want still has return times. Just tap the menu (☰) button, select “Today’s Plans,” and then tap the “Tip Board” tab to view the current return times for all eligible attractions.

While we’re talking about maximizing your day, Eun, here’s another helpful tip: some of the resort’s most popular attractions are available through Lightning Lane Single Pass, which is a separate purchase from Lightning Lane Multi Pass. If riding Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Disneyland Park or Radiator Springs Racers in Disney California Adventure Park is on your must-do list, Lightning Lane Single Pass can be a fantastic way to ensure you experience these epic attractions with minimal wait. Like all beloved attractions, these times can fill quickly, so it’s worth checking availability early in your day.

And last but not least, Eun, here’s a pro tip for you: Since some attractions fill up faster than others, it can really pay off to plan ahead. Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! and Indiana Jones Adventure are two of my personal favorites, and their Lightning Lane return times often disappear earlier in the day. If either of these are must-dos for you, I recommend selecting them as early as possible. At the very least, keep an eye on the Tip Board throughout the day—those return windows can shift quickly, and a little monitoring can help you catch the perfect time before it’s gone.

Eun, I hope this helps you feel confident and ready to make the most of your time in the parks. If you have any more questions as you plan your visit, please feel free to stop by and see us here at planDisney anytime!

    Have a magical day!
