Hi, Daniel! I am a huge fan of 2 Moderate Resorts: Port Orleans French Quarter and Coronado Springs. Of the 2, Coronado has more of a Deluxe feel to it.
Rooms at
Coronado Springs were refurbished in the last year or so. Rooms have 2 queen beds (or you can request a room with 1 king bed.) The rooms have a modern feel and are furnished with dark wood furniture, flat screen tv, and sliding door to the sink area for privacy. This is the only Moderate Resort that offers Queen beds, and they are super comfortable! The resort has a health club, salon, lounges, restaurants, and a jogging trail. It is a very large resort, perfect for long walks!
Port Orleans French Quarter is a bit less formal. The rooms are not quite as nice as Coronado Springs, but I love the quaint New Orleans feel to the resort and walking the grounds. At just over 1,000 rooms, it is about half the size of the other Moderate Resorts. From here, you can take a nice boat ride to Downtown Disney or take a stroll down to sister property Port Orleans Riverside. As a surprise, you can treat your wife to a horse and carriage ride!
Final answer for you: If you want a large resort feel with nice rooms, choose Coronado Springs. For a more intimate resort with New Orleans charm, give French Quarter a try! I really think you will be happy with either of these choices. Good luck, and I hope you and your wife have a fantastic vacation!
