I have a 6, 4, and 8mo old. With 3 kids, it’s just not realistic to wake them up at 5am for the 2 adults to Rise at HS. If Dad gets there early & gets on a group, is there an option for rider swap for me to ride after Dad rides?

It's great to see you here today at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Mary! With your Walt Disney World Resort vacation just a week away, it's a great time to get to know the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance boarding group system. It is, by far, the most popular attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios right now, so let's get right down to it and chat about how to ensure the best chances of success of joining a boarding group when you're there.

I'll start by saying that Rider Switch is available at Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance for families who are traveling with young children who aren't quite tall enough to ride, but everyone who will eventually ride needs to already have joined a boarding group, and in order to join a boarding group, you need to have scanned your ticket or MagicBand and be inside Disney's Hollywood Studios. You seem to be up-to-date on all of the news coming out of the planet Batuu because the boarding groups, which are distributed through the My Disney Experience app, are going very quickly first thing in the morning so getting there early before the Theme Park opens is currently the best way to improve your chances of getting to ride the attraction. If you and your husband want to ride using Rider Switch, you will both need to be inside the Theme Park to join a boarding group. When your boarding group is called, you'll be given a time by which you need to return and you don't need to be inside the Theme Park to get that notification on your phone. You can head to a different Theme Park or even go back to your Resort Hotel for a nap, and when it's time to come back to ride the attraction, you can let the Cast Member at the front know that you want to use Rider Switch.

I hope this answers your question, Mary, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation!
