Boo to you, Kim, and welcome to planDisney!
You are in for such a treat (or a trick?) when you celebrate the spooky season this year at
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! There have indeed been a lot of changes at the Most Magical Place on Earth over the last few years; however, fear not! I am more than happy to be your Ghost Host and point you to the dead center of your question.
Kim, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is my family’s favorite special event at Walt Disney World Resort, and for good reason! There are so many things to do, honestly, you won’t be able to do it all. Even though you can enter Magic Kingdom Park as early as 4 p.m. (and the party starts at 7 p.m.), you’ll still want to create a list of must-dos to help you prioritize. I’d love for you to feel like you’ve had a successful night by the time the clocks strikes midnight.
Some like to prioritize trick-or-treating. Pick up an event map at the park’s entrance and pinpoint where all of the spots are for collecting candy. By the way, Kim, you can go through the trick-or-treating queues as much as you’d like! We always come home with a ton of candy because while we’re riding a nearby attraction, someone else in my party is filling our bags up with treats.
There are also some pretty cool character meet-and-greet opportunities. You can meet ALL (eek!) of the Seven Dwarfs at Pete’s Silly Sideshow in Storybook Circus and Jack and Sally at the Town Square Theatre. So many of these meet and greets are exclusive to the party, so have your autograph books and cameras ready to go!
FastPasses are now a thing of the past, but the
Disney Genie+ Service and Lightning Lanes have materialized in their place. These are not available at the Halloween Party. But alas! What I love about this party is that the queues for attractions are usually much shorter than they are during Magic Kingdom Park’s normal operating hours. By the way, a few of the attractions like Space Mountain, have fun Halloween-themed overlays only for the party. My son loves the randomized not-so-spooky songs that play during the Mad Tea Party.
You cannot miss the highlight of the party: Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade. There are two parades on most nights, and I highly recommend going to the later parade because most people, especially with little ones, usually go to the first parade. Get in place about 15 minutes before the parade begins because you’ll encounter a few fun surprises along the parade route. I also love the fireworks over Cinderella Castle this year. There’s only one showing, so be sure to catch them, even if from a distance.
AN EXTRA GEM: Be sure to download the
My Disney Experience App before your visit, and check out the
planDisney Pocket Guide to having the BEST time at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. It gives you the low-down on all of the fun activities that you can check out during the festivities.
I hope that you have a ghoulishly delightful time at the Halloween Party, Kim! If you have any other questions before you embark on your journey to Walt Disney World Resort, please
revisit us here at planDisney. You’re not a foolish mortal for asking for all of the tips and tricks!
Magic always,
LeAndra
