When are MNSSHP dates released? We won’t be doing the party so wondering what days in October MK will close early. Also are the parks busy around/on Columbus Day as we didn’t realise when we booked it is at the end of our trip. Any tips would be great

    Welcome back to planDisney, Sophie!

A visit in October will be practically perfect. My family enjoys the Halloween festivities like MIckey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, and so much more during that time of year. I understand that you booked without realizing that there is a lot going on, but I’ll be happy to help ease your worries.

The dates for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, Magic Kingdom Park’s premier spooky season event, are usually announced in the springtime of each year. Disney Parks sometimes centers this around the Halfway to Halloween celebration, which meant that the first round of tickets went on sale in late April in 2023. Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog to be among the first to get the big news!

Once those days are released, you will know which days that Magic Kingdom Park will close a little earlier. By the way, those early days are sometimes the best times to visit this classic theme park. Many people avoid it because of the earlier closures, which means that the standby queues for attractions are relatively shorter.

As for Columbus Day, while some places in the United States still celebrate it, many do not in Florida. So, while you may not see a lot of us locals hanging around the theme parks on that day, it is still a big draw for people to visit. Plan accordingly by considering using Disney Genie+ to have access to attractions’ Lightning Lanes and start your days earlier and/or end your days later. Crowds usually peak around midday.

I just know that you’re going to have the BEST holiday, Sophie. Please don’t hesitate to revisit planDisney if you have additional questions about your upcoming adventure. See you real soon!

    Magic always,
