If we get to MK @ opening, can we ride the train right away to get off by BTMR, or do we have to walk over there?

    Hi Stefanie!

Yes, you can ride the Walt Disney World Railroad to get to the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad attraction after the Magic Kingdom opens.  I have done this many times and it saves a lot of walking.  There are a few things to keep in mind.  The first train takes 10 to 15 minutes to arrive after the Park is open because Mickey Mouse and Friends arrive in a special train for the Magic Kingdom opening ceremonies so this special train needs to be put away and the regular trains need to be put on the track.  This whole process takes a few minutes.  So someone who is walking quickly will definitely beat those riding the Walt Disney World Railroad to the the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad area.  The other thing to consider is that Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad attractions do not always open at park opening especially if there are Morning Extra Magic Hours on that particular day.  Often these two Frontierland rides open an hour later than the Magic Kingdom is scheduled to open.  You will have to check the Times Guide when you get there to see when these two rides are open for the day.

I hope that your next vacation to Walt Disney World is truly magical and memorable!

    Keep Dreaming Big!
