Going to MK for the first time, where is a place we should eat dinner? We have two sons ages 9 and 10, looking for something fun and family friendly.

    Hi Amy,

So you say you are looking for something fun and family friend?  Well, any restaurant in the Magic Kingdom will certainly fit the bill.  However, there are a few that stand out in my mind.  I've also taken the opportunity to consult my eleven-year-old son with regard to this question as I figured he might make some suggestions that will please your sons.

If you are looking for a fun quick service restaurant, consider Pinocchio's Village Haus in Fantasyland.  If you grab a table near the windows, you can dine on Italian fare as you wave at guests embarking on the It's a Small World ride down below.  We enjoyed this activity on our recent trip in September.  Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe in Tomorrowland is another great quick service option.  If you dine here during a parade, you can watch the floats glide by from your seats in the restaurant.

If you prefer a table service restaurant, consider making a reservation at The Crystal Palace.  Here you will find Winnie the Pooh and friends as you dine on an extensive buffet.  My guess, however, is that your sons will love the dining experience at Chef Mickey's even more.  You have to leave the Magic Kingdom briefly to reach this resort; it is found on the fourth floor of Disney's Contemporary Resort.  However, the brief monorail ride to this restaurant is well worth it.  Not only will you get to dine with "the big cheese" himself, but your boys will get to watch the iconic monorails glide overhead as you interact with Mickey and his friends.  It doesn't get much cooler than that.  Advance reservations are highly recommended at popular dining establishments such as this.  Call (407) WDW-DINE to make your arrangements.

Have a truly enchanting visit to the Magic Kingdom, Amy!  Sending heaps of pixie dust your way for a memorable vacation.
