Hi Theresa ~
I have a son with mobility disabilities and I love to see that you're planning ahead for your Disney Grandfather. I am a big fan of the Fireworks Dessert Parties! You get a fantastic view of Cinderella Castle without having to seek out a good spot hours before the show.
We saw Happily Ever After at the
Fireworks Dessert Party with the Terrace View a few weeks ago. I talked with a Cast Member about the differences between the two viewing locations (Plaza v. Terrace). Guests who book the Terrace View are seated in a private area at the front of the Tomorrowland Terrace. There are reserved tables with chairs so that everyone in your party has a place to sit together. You're welcome to sit during the fireworks and move chairs around to get a good view.
Guests who book the Plaza View are seated in a separate area near the back of the Tomorrowland Terrace for the dessert portion of the experience. There are tables and chairs but they are not reserved. You can sit anywhere and may end up sitting with other Guests. They accept more reservations for Plaza Viewing than Terrace Viewing. About 10 - 15 minutes prior to the fireworks, Guests with Plaza Viewing are escorted to the garden area near the Tomorrowland Terrace behind the hub. This area is all standing with no seating.
The desserts and beverages are exactly the same for both parties. For your Disney Grandfather, the Terrace View will give him a place to sit during the fireworks. Happily Ever After is an 18-minute spectacular so keep that in mind when deciding which location (Plaza v. Terrace) would be best for him. Terrace view worked out great for my son. The slight drawback for this location is that the projections on Cinderella Castle are a little blocked by some of the trees near the Tomorrowland Terrace.
Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
