I missed the carriage sleigh ride booking window at fort wilderness for December 1st or the 2nd at around 7:30pm 😔. Do people cancel? Or what can I do? Is there a time or date where I have a better chance that people will cancel?

    Hi Gynna!

Welcome to planDisney!  I don't know about you, but I can't think of a better time to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth than the most magical time of year!  From the theme parks to the resorts, you'll find festive fun around every corner.  Like you, I unfortunately also missed out on a reservation for the Holiday Sleigh Rides available at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that a little bit of pixie-dusted holiday magic may find its way to both of us!

Gynna, the sleigh rides at Fort Wilderness have a 24-hour cancellation policy, meaning that those with reservations can cancel up to 24 hours before their ride without penalty.  In my experience, reservations for popular limited-availability activities like this one often fill very quickly, but plans do sometimes change.  I've been surprised to find some great last-minute reservations for high-demand restaurants or activities just a day or two before my desired date, as other Guests have plans that change and are making their cancellations just ahead of that 24-hour deadline.  I plan to check periodically over the next few weeks ahead of my December visit, but I will probably check more frequently the week before my trip just in case something opens up!

If you're looking for other great holiday activities outside of the parks, I'd encourage you to spend some time resort-hopping to check out the beautiful decorations.  Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is always a popular stop during the holidays for its amazing gingerbread house and beautiful tree.  I've also heard the tree at Disney's Wilderness Lodge is incredible as well, and we booked lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe (located just off of the resort lobby) so that we make sure to find the time to check it out on this visit.  There is also a fabulous Christmas Tree Stroll at Disney Springs, with trees themed after popular Disney films!

Gynna, I ho-ho-hope you enjoy a wonderful visit to Walt Disney World Resort this holiday season!  If you have any other questions, please stop by to see us again here at planDisney!

    Cheers,
    Kristi
