Hey there, Larry. How exciting that you are heading to Walt Disney World this fall. I love visiting in September when all of the Halloween festivities are starting to be in full swing. It's a great time to go!
Right now, Larry, I haven't received word on when the
Minnie Van service may return. And going forward, if it does come back I can't say for sure that it is going to look the same. However, I can tell you how it used to work from my past experience using the service and if or when it comes back hopefully it will be similar.
The Minnie Van service was actually offered in conjunction with the Lyft app and worked very similar to any other rideshare service. The price varied depending on where you wanted to go and what time of day. To use the Minnie Van Service, you needed to have the Lyft mobile app downloaded on your smartphone device. Then, when you wanted to go somewhere you opened up the app and swiped through the car offerings until you saw the cute polka-dotted Minnie Vans. You then put in your destination and requested a ride. You would see the price quote and pay right through the app as well. Once you called a car you would be provided with a tracking map and the vehicle number that was coming to pick you up so you could easily identify which car was intended for you. Each Minnie Van would accommodate up to 6 Guests which will be perfect for your group if they do make a return. The Minnie Vans used to run from about 6:30 a.m. until about 12:30 a.m. daily. You could even request a Minnie Van to pick you up from the airport and whisk you off to your magical adventure at Walt Disney World. To do so, you would have needed to set this up ahead of time by calling (407)WDW -PLAY. The cost for that service from the airport was around $155.00 each way. The Minnie Vans that serviced the airport could also hold up to 6 Guests with 6 medium-sized suitcases.
If you have your heart set on using the Minnie Van service while you are at Walt Disney World, be sure to keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog. That's going to be where you can find all of the announcements about things returning to Walt Disney World this fall. If the Minnie Van service does not return, there are still a number of ways to get around the Walt Disney World Resort. There is plenty of
complimentary transportation that will get you where you need to go. Depending on where you are staying and where you are going you can take a bus, boat, monorail, skyliner and even walk to some locations. If you'd prefer more private transportation, you can still use other ride-share services at this time.
I have my fingers crossed that Minnie Vans will return before your vacation, Larry. They really are a fun way to get around Walt Disney World. If you have any other questions before your trip, please feel free to come back and
ask me. I'm here to help. Happy planning!
