This will be mine and my son’s first vacation he is 5 and as a single parent were on a tight budget. Are there any family hotels specific that are family oriented? Or any advice would be helpful.

    Hi Amanda!

I am a single parent like you and I have been going to Walt Disney World with my son for the last five years. We have had such an incredible time together on those trips and we also were able to do it economically on a limited budget. Here is what I would suggest based on my experience:

    1. Stay at a Value Resort during the Value Season (we normally go at the end of August or early September) Pop Century or the All Star Resorts (Sports, Movies, or Music).  My son really liked the All Star Movies Resort because of it's great theme.

    2. Take advantage of the free dining package if it is offered again because this gets you two paid for meals each day (historically it has been offered at the end of August to the end of September)

    3. Bring or purchase breakfast food to eat in your room before heading to the Parks

    4. Use the Magical Express Service--this is free transportation to and from the Orlando Airport

    5. Use the free transportation at Walt Disney World--You do not have to rent a car and you can travel anywhere in Walt Disney World.

    6. Buy Park Tickets with your Package--Only buy enough Park Tickets for your full days during your vacation. On your arrival and departure day find other things to do that do not require using a one day's Park Ticket

I hope that you and your son make some magical lifetime memories together on your first trip to Walt Disney World!

    Keep Dreaming Big!
