Hey there, hi there Jonathan!
My husband always told me I had the hardest job in the military - being a military spouse. What he didn't know is that anytime he was deployed, I'd plan trips to
Walt Disney World, which really made my time as a military spouse a bit easier. Disney just seems to know how very important time together as a family is, and they try so hard to make it possible for active-duty service members and their families to spend time in the magic.
Walt Disney World offers
Military Salute Tickets to eligible service members and veterans. There are also some pretty great
Disney Resorts Collection hotel discounts. To know if you are eligible, you should fall into one of these categories - current member of the military (including active duty, reservists, National Guard member, Coast Guard, PHS, and NOAA); retired military members; medal of honor recipients; and 100% service-connected disabled veterans.
These tickets can be purchased at your base ticket office (but I recommend that you call ahead, as some bases don't have the tickets all the time), or you can purchase them through
Shades of Green, the Armed Forces Recreation Center Resort on Walt Disney World property. These tickets are 4 or 5-day park hopper tickets, and you can choose to add the new
Genie+ service to the tickets when you purchase them. Don't forget to make your
theme park reservations as soon as you can once you have your tickets!
I hope your planning goes well, Jonathan. If there's anything we can help with, we'd be happy to do so!
