We are a military family planning our first trip to WDW in Jan 2020. We check into pop century on Jan 16th and my daughters 3rd birthday is Jan 18th. Will we need to purchase her a ticket on her birthday for the remainder of our trip?

    Hi Cassie!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. It’s always a pleasure to see a fellow military family here, and I’m so excited to hear about your first visit to the Walt Disney World Resort AND your princess’s third birthday! So many things to celebrate!

I have happy news: children aged 2 and under are considered “Guests of Mickey,” and you will not need to purchase a ticket for your daughter for this visit. Because Walt Disney World is a world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy, and a place where we never grow up, your daughter will be considered 2 for the length of your stay.

Cassie, make sure that you add a note about your daughter’s birthday to your reservation at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, as well as any dining reservations you make (or have already made). You can even order a special birthday cake to a Table-Service restaurant or your resort hotel room!

You’ll also want to pick up “First Visit” and birthday celebration buttons when you check in to Disney’s Pop Century Resort. It’s so much fun to get birthday wishes from fellow Guests and Cast Members when wearing those, and it will make your princess feel even more royal! I am a huge fan of birthday t-shirts, and you can find lots of great designs on the internet, including these fun birthday tees from ShopDisney. On a visit with some of my fellow Panelists last fall, we saw a family in "Birthday Squad" t-shirts, and it was the CUTEST thing!

One last tip, Cassie. Since you’re a military family, I want to be sure you know that for the past several years, there have been military promotional theme park tickets, discounts on select rooms, and even a discount on Memory Maker (and you will definitely cherish those birthday photos!). We’re still waiting on the details for the military promotions for 2020, so keep an eye on the Special Offers web site – I’m sending pixie dust that they’re released soon and you can add them to your reservation.

Party Up and enjoy every minute of your together time on your extra-special first visit and birthday bonanza! Please come back and see us if you have any questions as you plan and dream about your epic adventure.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
