    Can military families staying at Shades of Green get the free dining plan if its offered at that time and how bad are the crowds over thanksgiving.

    Hello Robin, welcome to the Disney Parks Mom´s Panel!

    To know everything about military benefits and discounts I always recommend visiting Shades of Green and Military Disney Tips web sites.  Both websites include great information that is updated frequently.

    Visit these sites regularly to read about new special offers and to know if any includes Disney Dining Plans.  Disney special offers are announced around 3 to 4 months prior to first discounted date.

    If no military discount includes Disney Dining Plans you can compare the cost of buying a Disney Special Offer (room and dining plan), versus room with military discount and dining plan at regular price.  For both options you can buy the tickets separately with military discount.

    In the last couple of years free dining plan has been offered from September through December, but some weeks (like Thanksgiving) are not included.  These offers may change from year to year.

    During holidays like Thanksgiving crowd levels are always high.  Still, the weeks before and after are an excellent time to visit.
