Are military discounts placed on special discount hotel costs?

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there, Richard!

Welcome to planDisney, I’m Shantel, and I’ll be more than happy to help answer your question. Now let’s get you one step closer to visiting Walt Disney World Resort!

The Walt Disney World Resort does an incredible job of honoring eligible service members and their families looking to visit. You can find savings on theme park tickets and Disney Resort hotels to help make this dream vacation a reality. As a military spouse myself, I’m happy to share my personal experience using both offers with you.

When it comes to theme park tickets, we visit using the Disney Military Salute offer. These tickets can be purchased through Shades of Green or from your local military ticketing office. I usually just purchase our tickets locally, so that I can create our Theme Park Reservations right after. And when I say right after, I mean right after. I’m usually doing this in my car on the My Disney Experience mobile app, the second I walk out of the ticketing office. Hang on to your receipt confirmation, you’ll need that and your military ID to activate your tickets once you arrive.

Now, let’s get to resort savings. To take advantage of this offer, you’ll need to call the Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Reservations line. Mention that you are looking to use the military offer, provide your dates and resort preference, and a Cast Member will be more than happy to check for availability. I’ll be honest, I usually complete this phone call with an open mind. I normally don’t go in with a preferred resort, I just wait for the Cast Member to share which resort is available with this offer. It’s a fun way to try something different, as my husband and I always say.  Once confirmed and booked, you’ll want to make sure to bring your military ID with you during your visit. You’ll need to show the Front Desk your ID to complete this offer once you arrive. After that, you’re all set!

Another option is bypassing the military offers and using the current offers. Unfortunately, you cannot combine military resort savings with other resort savings, but you can book a non-military discounted room and still use the Military Promotional Tickets, as long as the discounted room is booked as a room-only reservation. For example, my family is planning on using the Special Summer Savings for Disney+ Subscribers with our Military Salute Tickets later next month. I recommend pricing different options out to see which route is the best one to take based on what you want to do and see. I’ve even had these conversations with Cast Members as I’ve debated which booking route I wanted to take. Trust me, they are so helpful and more than happy to help price those different options out with you.

Richard, I hope this helps answer your question about all the incredible savings available. Happy planning, and please let us know if there’s anything else we can help you plan for.

    Enjoy!
