Hi there, Desiree!
Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for your service. There’s nothing better than running magical miles at the Most Magical Place on Earth. In fact, my first official race (ever!) was a runDisney half marathon. Then, my U.S. Army veteran husband joined in the fun at this year’s
Springtime Surprise Weekend. Racing together to the finish is a core memory of ours now.
Currently, there is no military discount for runDisney racing events. However, when registering for a race, you can sign up to be a part of the military division. This does not affect placement in the race, but it does allow the participant to be ranked by time among other military members.
Desiree, the military member will need to be on active duty, retired, or in the Reserves in order to sign up for the military division. For example, although my husband is a veteran of the U.S. Army, he does not fall under that umbrella, so he was not able to be ranked within that division. However, he, like other runners and I, was still able to see his overall ranking after the race.
AN EXTRA GEM: If you’re looking for discounted theme park tickets and a hotel stay for a runDisney race, check out the
Special Offers, Deals & Discounts on the Walt Disney World Resort website. Staying on property for a race is always super convenient; just hop on a bus and you’re swept off to the event.
Desiree, a word of warning: Once you participate in your first
runDisney race, you will want to participate in more and more. Regardless if it’s the awesome community of people you’ll meet along the way or the fun medals and theming that surround you on the course, I’m telling you, you will get hooked. Good luck with your training, and revisit us here at planDisney if you have any other questions.
I’m all ears! Magic always,
LeAndra
