Military discount great way to say thanks for service, certainly well deserved. Family come often, but all 3 daughters and a son-in-law are public educators so limited to the most expensive times. You think ever offer discount of any type for teachers?

Hi Mary! I completely understand your desire for a discount for those who serve as educators. I am a former teacher and know the hours and expense I put into my classrooms to make learning fun and powerful. It is one of the most important professions in this country but often forgotten.

I will never say never when it comes to Disney but they haven't had an educator special and no word that they will in the future. I imagine that the numbers would be immense and the logistics of who is an active educator and who isn't would be tough. But we will all keep our ears open for the possibility down the road.

Your best bet for any specials to help with a vacation would be in the spring. Check out the spring break times and see if Free Dining is offered during that time. Also check with your local AAA if you are a member. Their specials can vary in timing from Disney's. Many panelists also find that becoming a DVC member offers them a chance to visit Disney at a reduced rate from what they would be spending for a regular resort room. This might be an answer for your family as that would allow them to come during busy times as well.

When I was teaching I found the best week to come was the Thanksgiving week. At most the kids and myself only took 2-3 days off and the schools were very understanding. We left Friday night the week before and returned the Sunday after Thanksgiving. It wasn't too crowded early on and we were also able to see some of the special holiday decor and events before we left. Not a lot of specials but a great time to visit.
