Can we get a military discount at the gate?

    Hi Elizabeth!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! We're also a Military family currently stationed in South Carolina!! We've visited Walt Disney World Resort having purchased Military tickets all the different ways, and I'm excited to pass on what I've picked up.

In short, yes, military members can purchase either single or multi-day tickets, with or without the Park Hopper option, at the ticket window of any park. We've even purchased the very generous Military Promotional Ticket minutes before walking through the turnstiles. (Bonus Tip: U.S. Military Members can even get a special rate on Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party when purchasing those tickets at the gate.)

There are benefits to purchasing tickets in advance, mainly to reserve FastPass+ selections but also because tickets purchased on base or through Shades of Green are exempt from paying sales tax. Check with your base/post MWR/ITT/ticket office to see what their availability is like. Pro Tip: check with the other nearby base ticket offices if yours is sold out.

When a base does need to order more Disney theme park tickets, it can take up to a month for the passes to arrive. However, Shades of Green, the military exclusive resort hotel located near Magic Kingdom Park, is now able to sell these tickets in advance via email, after verifying your service eligibility. And lastly, you can also purchased your tickets sales-tax free from the Shades of Green ticket office as soon as you get into town. We've done this twice and if you have the time it's worth the savings.

We'll See You Real Soon, Elizabeth!
