Does the Military Discount on the cruise line extend to retired US Naval reserves? I noted that the offer only mentions retired US Army reserves.

    Ahoy Elizabeth!

Welcome aboard planDisney, and thanks for bringing this to our attention – it's a great catch that you noticed this detail in language on the Disney Cruise Line website. Most importantly, thank you or your retired family member for your service to our great nation. As a fellow Virginian, I understand the distinction and admire the many U.S. Naval Reservists who are ready to serve and are stationed along our vast coastline.

I’m happy to share that ALL retired service members from all branches of the U.S. Military and U.S. Military Reserves are welcome as can be and fully eligible for the Military Rates onboard Disney Cruise Line. While the detailed description mentions the U.S. Army Reserves, I confirmed with a Crew Member that your U.S. Naval Reserves retirement status absolutely qualifies for this special offer. I hope your great question helps others through reading this answer, and in our bringing it to the attention of Disney Cruise Line.

Now that you know you’re eligible for special savings, I hope you can find an itinerary that calls to you! The service is what truly sets Disney Cruise Line apart for my family – our stateroom hosts, dining team, and everyone we encounter onboard are on a mission to make it our best vacation ever! Add in the incredible food and Broadway-caliber entertainment, and you’ll see why so many continue to return to these types of vacations.

On the Disney Cruise Line Military Rates website, you can browse the savings list to find an itinerary that works for your family. While it sounds like you or your family members will be comfortable at sea, I assure you this will be unlike any past Naval cruise! For first-time cruisers I recommend the Bahamian, Bermuda, or Caribbean sailings from Port Canaveral. You can fly direct to Orlando (airport code MCO) from Virginia and use Disney’s ground transportation options for an easy transfer to the port. Or combine it with a Walt Disney World Resort vacation for the ultimate land-and-sea adventure! The Walt Disney World Resort also has special U.S. Military Offers

Please sail back and “sea” us as you start to plan your magical cruise, Elizabeth! We answer questions every day about Disney Cruise Line and the Walt Disney World Resort, so we’d love to help you make the most of this special vacation.

    Happy planning!
