Boo-to-You, Lisa! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party truly has something to appeal to "ghouls" and boys of all ages, from the littlest goblins to grown-up ghosts. In fact, I am planning to attend the party with some friends in a couple of weeks, and we are leaving our kiddos at home for this visit.
Although my children won't be joining me for this year's Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, they are a bit older than your son, and they still love attending this type of event. My kids are thrill-seekers and love to ride attractions when we visit the Walt Disney World theme parks. If your son enjoys the attractions at
Magic Kingdom Park, you'll be excited to know that many
attractions receive special enhancements during Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. For example, on
Pirates of the Caribbean, guests will encounter a crew of live pirates. When you board your
Space Mountain rocket during the party, you will hurtle through complete darkness to the sounds of a Halloween-inspired soundtrack.
I think
Mickey's Boo-to-You Halloween Parade is a frightfully fun time for guests of all ages. When the Headless Horseman rides through Magic Kingdom Park and the spectral Bride from the
Haunted Mansion glides down the parade route, it creates an atmosphere just spooky enough to appeal to adults and older children. Since your son is older and can likely stay up fairly late, I would suggest catching the second parade performance of the night. Crowds at the late parade tend to be much lighter.
Since you're never too old for candy, be sure to enjoy trick-or-treating throughout the park. For even more sweet treats, you might want to consider boo-king the
Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party. In addition to the yummy treats, attending the dessert party gives you the perfect spot to watch this year's
brand-new fireworks show.
