Welcome back to the Wilderness, Sharon! I am so glad you moseyed by as you are planning your visit to
Walt Disney World Resort.
Just as Andy grew up and his life changed, the Most Magical Place on Earth sometimes sees some bittersweet changes too. From your questions to planDisney, I know you share my adoration of character dining. Although I have the unfortunate news that Mickey's Backyard BBQ has closed, I am happy as Andy's toys to tell you about some of my favorites that make this a little easier to swallow.
If you have a hankering for barbeque,
Disney's Hollywood Studios recently opened its doors to
Roundup Rodeo BBQ. In the heart of Toy Story Land, this restaurant will make you feel like a kid again. You can enjoy a family-style buffet of traditional barbeque picnic fare while being immersed in the joys of being a toy in Andy's room. We tried this last fall and it will be on our list again. The chicken and ribs were great, but the selection of sides made it a favorite for my kids.
Heading back to
Disney's Wilderness Lodge, you can discover the fairest (and my new favorite) of all:
Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White. Snow White, Dopey and even Grumpy are quite the characters. And then there is the Evil Queen, living up to her name in the most royal grandeur. The menu is inspired by the characters and is part of the storytelling. The entire experience is delightfully magical, and I cannot wait to return.
Keeping in the neighborhood, you can hightail it over to
The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort for
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. This is still raking in the best reviews. The food! The entertainment! The servers! The Revue has been earning exclamation points and delighting diners for so long and is still keeping it fresh.
I hope you find playfully fun and delicious options that reach for the sky!
